How I Typically Work with Schools

Book an in-person workshop with me through Dinah.com and we include online follow-up course and interaction.

Working with teachers and staff on a PK-12 campus (or a grade level or multiple classes or grade levels within a school) is an opportunity to hybridize my work with Dinah.com and my consulting work and create a partnership effort toward incorporating more hands-on, brains-on engagement in the classroom. It really works best to start with an in-person session, either half day (about 3 hours) or full day (5.5 - 6 hours), to lay the groundwork for additional applications and follow-up.

“It's more natural to build relationships in person, and that's why I start my engagement with schools this way. When I can see what the classrooms and hallways look like and how teachers and staff interact, with or without learners, I get a better sense of how we might build a productive partnership involving brain-friendly, hands-on tools such as Foldables.”

Any workshop or training is most effective when there are multiple opportunities to touch base and follow-up. We can have a really fun and engaging session together, with great plans for incorporating Foldables into upcoming lessons, but once the schedule and the classroom starts getting hectic, it can be difficult to know where to begin. That's why I include online course access, and email, video, or in-person follow-up opportunities with my in-person sessions.

Most in-person sessions are cross-curricular, unless there is a compelling need to focus on just one content area. Foldables can be used effectively with all grade levels and in all content areas.

How this works:

  1. To start the process, send an email to orders@dinah.com with "Book Rhonda" in the subject line. The helpful people at Dinah.com will send you a Workshop Planning Form in their reply.

  2. Once the completed Workshop Planning Form is returned to orders@dinah.com, they will forward a copy to me and we (the school contact and I) can begin figuring out the specifics: date(s), content area, campus familiarity with Foldables, any particular problem areas we should focus on (for example, I focus on vocabulary development by default) so that we can make our time together as productive and meaningful as possible. Dinah.com offers a discount on books purchased in conjunction with an in-person workshop, so we can also discuss whether that might be a good investment for your team, and which titles might be the best fit.

  3. I'll make sure all the supplies needed for our in-person session are available on our workshop day, so participants can focus on creating samples and thinking of applications.

  4. We'll schedule an initial follow-up date/time for Rhonda and a school contact and I'll make the appropriate online course(s) available to your team for the duration of the school year.
