A quick summary of my consulting philosophy is provided with the acronym PLOX2.

I came up with an acronym, PLOX2 (I say it as Plox squared, though that is not really mathematically correct!) to help me remember and clarify my aims for consulting with you:

  • I want the experience to benefit you personally and professionally, when possible. I got tired of hearing about PD (Professional Development), as if we can always divide ourselves into boxes depending on our setting. I aim to provide opportunities for you to reflect on how what we're doing might be applicable in other areas of your life. I believe that makes it "stick" better and helps you hold on to the new material you want to use.

  • We are all life-long learners, whether we're trying or not! Since my area of academic expertise is lifespan development, most of what I share with you can be applied to learners of all ages.

  • Knowing my options is important to me, and I aim to provide (or point to) multiple opportunities for you to learn new things and apply them.

  • Well, you know anything with the letter X is likely to represent words beginning with 'ex-' and that is true here. I aim for excellence in the courses I provide and in our interactions, as well as exceptional value.

When I looked up the word "Plox," I learned that it has been used as a term for "thanks" in the gaming world--did you know that?

I continue to work with Dinah Zike offering in-person learning through www.dinah.com and the Dinah Zike Academy. This website provides an online option for some of the same things we teach in-person at the Dinah Zike Academy.
